Being a part of something greater than yourself
Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 01:41AM So today was the first taste we got of the Staff Conference. The first major registration was today and so the number of people around campus and around Durell is greatly increasing - and increasing rapidly. All the elements are starting to come together and it is truly exciting. I feel so important and special being a part of the team that has worked the past 5 weeks to prepare for this. I was wearing my Staff Conference Team shirt today (cause of registration) and I got asked a question - while I was on the phone - just because I had my shirt on ... it was kinda cool.
Also today was the first day that I went into Moby (the basketball arena where the conference is) in weeks - and since they started setting up. It looks so different, and totally transformed into an awesome setting for a conference. There is a huge stage, and seating and carpet on the gym floor. The reason I got to go into Moby was because we had camera training. The training was to learn how to use the cameras that are in the arena for recording, the jumbo trons and the webcast feed. I got to learn (and use) one of those cameras today ... it was really awesome. Since we got to do that we saw the worship band rehearsing and other set up things going on. It just truly hit me today that I am a part of a national conference. I am helping put something on that staff can be filled and rest in the Lord. The work I'm doing (while it may seem small and insignificant) is truly Kingdom worthy. While the signs I made today saying "reserved for ..." may not seem like they would affect the kingdom, I'm sure in some way the are having an impact.
While the stress and lack of sleep that we will probably all be getting from incredibly full schedules the next week, I am excited for the opportunitiy and for what the Lord has in store for me and my peers and all the staff here at CSU.
